On Viazi, individuals and companies can contribute to solving world hunger and climate change. Viazi does that by delivering smart and sustainable potato farming resources to East African smallholder farmers, which will increase their productivity, reduce their environmental footprint, and make them economically self-sufficient.

Viazi tokens are the proof of the climate and social impact you create. One Viazi token stands for one tonne of reduced carbon emissions (per year), and also serves as the proof of the increased productivity, nutrition and income of the community. Viazi tokens have monetary value and they can be traded.

In Africa, up to 80% of the food is produced by smallholder farmers, many of them women, using ineffective crops and farming methods. Switching to modern potato farming increases their productivity by up to 3X and reduces their climate impact by up to 60%. Also potato provides significantly better nutrition (increased iron and vitamin C intake and protein quality) and a better and more stable source of income.

The recipients of the Viazi packages are carefully selected communities in East Africa. They are smallholder communities or cooperatives who want to learn modern potato farming but do not have financial resources to invest in the technology and knowhow. Viazi’s potato farming package will turn the farmers economically self-sufficient agro-entrepreneurs over three seasons (12-18 months), after which they will not need any more external funding.

The farmers will receive a Viazi potato farming package for 3 seasons. The package includes climate smart inputs (certified seed potatoes, fertilizers, biofertilizers) and equipment (solar-powered irrigation pumps, drip kits, mechanization tools, weather stations, etc.), along with training in good agricultural practices and a digital guidance app.

Your investment is directed towards a speficic community. You can track the progress of your community on our site and through the link you receive upon making an investment on Viazi. You can follow the progress through video updates, satellite images, and progress metrics reported on our site.

Viazi gets revenue from delivering the potato farming packages. All the components of the packages are purchased at a market price, so Viazi will not charge any overhead, but Viazi will get a commission for all purchased farming resources from the suppliers. Viazi also gets revenue from organisations for customised compensation and social impact solutions.

Viazi was founded in 2023 in Finland by Antti Hintikka and Marko Myllyluoma, two experienced businessmen and entrepreneurs who have been working in food production and emerging markets for the majority of their careers.
